Rules that software can read, evaluate, and enforce before an autonomous system acts.
Coined by Plaw, 2020s. Inspired by code as policy.
Authentication asks who. Authorization asks what can be accessed. Programmable law asks whether this system may take this exact action, now, under these conditions, with what proof and recourse.
